Six Tips For Engagement Photos

A lot of couples experience their first professional photos during your engagement. Preparation for a wedding can be daunting at times and our goal is to keep this part of your wedding planning easy, enjoyable and a bit of fun. From the beach, to the city street or the park we got you covered for your Tampa Bay engagement portraits.

  1. Bring Mints - it’s a funny thought, but during engagement shoots there’s a bit of smooching involved and it never hurts to be a bit minty fresh during your time in front of the camera.

  2. Outfits - In coordinating your wardrobe, keep the end result in mind. Do you want your photos to feel bright, airy and beachy? Opting for a long flowing gown for her and a nice pair of dress pants and a dress shirt for him is a great choice for certain situations and not so good in others. Plan ahead and do a little research and feel free to ask the photographer what people are wearing in certain shoots and perhaps there are examples.

  3. Make it a Date - Enjoy your time together while getting ready for the shoot. Make it a fun event even in the prep and perhaps a little more romance will ensue. Starting the day off with this mindset helps you to feel romantic when you head into the photo shoot. After the day of shooting or late evening, you’re already dressed up and a dinner date could also be in the plans or something else. (Also keep note of tip #1)

  4. Don’t Overthink it - I'm pretty comfortable in front of the camera, but I know some people lock up or just freeze when they have their pictures taken. You don't have to be a model and, in fact, it’s more fun to just be yourself in front of the camera. Plan and get a general idea, but just let things naturally happen and the right photography team will help keep the mood light and fun.

  5. Go with the Flow - You DO want a plan in place with your photographer. Where you are going, the type of photos you want, some “must have” poses. But, once we get to know you, see how you interact with one another, and even how your clothes move or the environment is that day, be open to ideas from the team. Our Taylor Arts Photos team is known for coming up with poses on the spot, that truly reflect YOU!

  6. Remember why you’re there - It’s important to remember why you’re doing it in the first place. With wedding prep, people people get stressed, since there’s pressure from friends and family, along with all eyes are on you. Take a deep breath and enjoy these moments and let us capture it for you.
