Podcast 59: Florida High School Football Photos

High School Sports have a long history of downtown rivals and this was evident this past week in Riverview Florida. I’ve had the pleasure of working with both East Bay High School and Riverview High School - both are situated a few miles apart. Before the season started, both teams had their Football Team Pictures and Individual images taken - where the studio was transported to both schools.

Historically, the teams would go out to the field sit on bleachers and you’re at the mercy of all 80 players ready at once and also the weather cooperating. Both sessions this summer with the teams, it stormed as we were already inside.

I’m often asked, what makes our photos different from others. - The answer is simple, we continually focus on ways to create an image that feels top quality and something that could also be present in a magazine or a graphic that you would see on ESPN.

The other part of our editing process is, at times not everyone can make photo day. The edits are done, so in the event the unforeseen occcurs and a student misses the session, we can coordinate with the parent and coach a time to get image completed. This happened recently due to an injury, post team photos the parent and student came to the studio and we did their images. I was able to add the student into the team photo before delivery to the team and we didn’t miss a beat.

If you’re getting ready for your session, here are a few quick tips prior to your photos.

Get a full nights rest. Like planning for a game, being exhausted or sleep deprived will come across in the image. So as you prepare for the game, do the same for your images.

  • Show up on time – If there’s a large group, be sure to arrive on time (especially if you have a scheduled time). Rushing never looks good, either on the field or in picture.

  • Bring all sporting equipment - this might seem trivial but if you use a soccer or basketball, bring one along. If you wear shin guards, be sure to have them on. These add not only to the overall feel of the image but also bring an extra pizazz to the picture.

  • Wear full uniforms – this might seem like a no brainer, but arrive in full uniform attire and a clean uniforms helps. If it’s only a partial uniform, it’ll impact the view of the image.

Inquire About A Sports Session:

If you are looking for quality sports images in Florida or Tampa, you can expect the following:

  • A mobile studio photo session for your team. The studio will come to you and includes lighting, backdrops and you supply the space required to do composite portrait shooting (usually a high school gym).

  • Depending on the size of the team, we have preset poses on a slideshow to assist in going through the poses and to be efficient as possible. A football team can be covered in about an hour and half.

  • We’ll work together to incorporate your school colors, logos and athletes names if desired.

Whether you are in Cheer, Dance, Gymnastics, Football, Soccer, Tennis, Baseball, Basketball, Swim, Band, Orchestra, Choir, Softball, Lacrosse, Rugby, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Fitness, Art, Music, Golf, Track, Volleyball, Cross County, or Hockey, we can create custom composites for you!
