Planning Your Fitness Photo Shoots

Taylor Photography Fitness Sessions in Tampa Bay

Whether you’re competing in a bodybuilding/fitness show or achieved a personal goal, you’ll want to capture the dedication and hard work that was the result of your hard work. Some decide to keep the images for personal use, others are influencers in social media and use it to promote their personal brand.

  1. The Gym
Preparing for a Fitness Photo Shoot can at times feel a bit daunting. You’ll probably be in a unique location or unfamiliar gym where feeling out of place might be top of mind. You might find yourself at a new gym in Tampa Bay or a gym in California. Whenever you’re in a public location, the eyes will be upon you and it’ll be no different at the gym or park when showing off your hard earned work. The one thing to consider is when taking photos at the gym, others are there to get into better shape and the chance is high the physique that has been created is motivating others.

  2. Bring a spare (or two or three)

Even for the guys, it’s a good idea to bring additional clothes to your fitness photo shoot. If you’re like me, heading out and suddenly you second guess the outfit choice. The other thought is the colors don’t seem to flow well in the pictures, but the backup clothes work magnificently.

  3. Unique Requests:
Depending on the location, (not so much in the gym but good to relay anyway) you’ll be performing a variety of shots in conditions that may pose conflicts such as allergies, heights, outdoor conditions or other possible issues that could cause concern. It’s best to relay the info to the photographer ahead of time to plan accordingly.

  4. Practice Poses

We’ll assist in your poses, but there might be something you want to do during the session. It’s important that you practice your poses in front of a mirror. This will help with planning the angles you want and like the most. You’ll also find posing feels a bit off and awkward in the beginning, but with the right photographer it can quickly become fun experience and memorable.

  5. The Night Before
You’ve done a show or reached a goal, keep the partying to a minimum or wait one more day. Arriving with blood shot eyes and bags under your eyes isn’t something you want to show off, along with bloated stomach. Get plenty of rest so that you're able to arrive on time.
