Best Time for a Photoshoot
Usually when scheduling a photoshoot, the time of day doesn’t come up in most peoples mind. Most assume time doesn’t matter, but it actually does and it might actually be the biggest item to consider. When photographing a family, athlete or model the sun is always taken into consideration for outdoors shoot. This goes double in Florida during the summer months in the Tampa area. So, what actually is the best time of day for a shoot?
The answer is easy, at least for the photographers but for simplicity reasons it’s when the sun is lowest in the sky. It’s also referred to as the Golden Hour, the time of day after the sun rises (in Florida the first hour) or the last hour of sunlight. In other parts of the country, it could be up to the first two hours or the last two but depends on where the location is the coloration of the sky - orange, golden light that is unmatched along the shorelines of Tampa Bay. Weather plays an impact on the sky, but if and when possible I try and plan shoots around this time of day. The colors light up the image and make for some fantastic shots.
